City Tour Program (Goes to Lopburi, Thailand): Join this program with Ajarn/Teachers and Thai Student from Faculty of Liberal Arts, Maejo University.

Hello, I am Fauzi. I would like to inform you about the nice experience. This event, traveled for 3 days on 02-03 January 2018 with Ajarn and Thai students from Faculty of Liberal Arts, Maejo University visited to Lupburi, Thailand.


The first day, we visited Chan-Sen Museum in Nakornsawan Province, this museum is one of the famous museums located in there. The museum has a collection of various relics such as: human skeletons, rocks, carvings, sharp weapons, plates, etc. In the museum area, there are some tourist attractions, reservoirs that's located to the right of the museum and around the museum that has the local home's people, this museum there are many beautiful buildings like in the picture below:



 The second day, we visited Narayana Museum Place, a museum of three (3) main sections built and amidst historical buildings. This museum has a lot of information such as the entry of Christianity, Muslims, Buddhist, Hindu. This museum is very nice seen from all directions and the number of old buildings this museum has its own charm. The pictures around the museum location can be seen below:




The museum is currently undergoing renovation in several places and will be made stand for the event on 10 February 2018. The museum is very large than before, very interesting and lots of nice tang engravings.
* next we visited the other old buildings around the museum in Lopburi, Thailand. Such as: Wichayen House, one of the historic buildings about the official resident for ambasador. Picture below:





The next city tour to San Praha Karn, a place of worship for the Hindu people, is very beautiful to visit and beside this building, there is a beautiful temple that has many monkeys arounds in the middle of the city. That's the beauty can be seen when seen very close, the monkeys who play and chase each other and so many tourists from abroad who see the beauty of this city. Picture below:




The last day, we visited a place of worship for the Buddhist people, this place is a beautiful and that is amazing.

The city tour was very memorable for us, hoping a lot of knowledge gained from a very tired journey.

A Short Report: Volunteer Camp Fire in Galyani District Vadhana, Chiang Mai Province

This time I gained an experience to attended as an event organized by SAS MJU's Organization. This activity is one of the organization work programs that focus on community service.


The activity started on 26-28th January 2018 has several agenda that is: assisting community in making dam in the river, distribution of goods and food to students in school-village, planting of medicinal plants in village hospital, and clean area around of ​​village and camps such as: fence making, pole paint, livestock shelter, all these are social services organized to create healthy and clean villages.



This event was attended by several volunteers including Thai students, Indo students, Teachers, Researchers and some locals who came to accompany our activities.

Enthusiastic volunteers that look very valuable in every program. Group formation for volunteers every day is very effective to be able to hone various knowledge and experience.

Cheerful and happy looks every face volunteers even under the hot sun in the afternoon and cool at night, but still enjoy.
This activity is very draining, but very impressive for themselves in every volunteer. Every night there are various activities such as: around bonfires, sausages, brainstorming and story-telling, singing, etc.

On the last day we visited the Watchan Temple that's located not far from the camp, it's to relax the body's activity before. "Here I get a lot of valuable knowledge, learning, sincerity to seek life out there through a program of dedication to the local people".

Thank you very much for the chance provided by SAS MJU's organizational friends. From here I look for many new friends who are very kind, friendly, and willing to accept us (indo student) to participate in your activities. I would like to express my gratitude to Thai students, Teachers and the community in learning to protect the environment around us.

STUDENTS VISIT MUSEUMS: GETTING HISTORICAL INFORMATION IN CHIANG MAI CITY ARTS & CULTURAL

(Wednesday, 17th January 2018) Through this visit, Thai Student and International Student (UMY) at School of Administration Studies Maejo University getting chance for learning all about historical in 2 (two) museum places in Chiang Mai i.e. Lanna Folklife Museum and Chiang Mai City Arts & Cultural Center.



The first visit in Lanna Folklife Museum, this museum provide a lot of information about the historical Lanna people (Thai: ล้านนา). Besides the history, this museum offers a lot of relic’s heritage a Lanna people in Northern Thailand. Lanna Folklife Museum that has 2 floors has many rooms such as goods supernatural powers objects collection, clothes collection, worship offerings, stucco sculpture, the process of mural painting, metal casting sculptors and all. In addition an International Student and Thai student has lecturer to explaining each rooms in museum.


The next visit in the Chiang Mai City Arts & Cultural Center, this museum bigger than Lanna Folklife Museum, for this museum giving the historical information about the Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand places, this second chance we were taught everything about Chiang Mai province and the society-life in earlier time.

This museum has many rooms such as the historical king of Chiang Mai, Map/ locations of various temples and Chiang Mai province borders, traditional home, traditional fabrics collection, photos several local people, and all. This museum provide a digital electronics to support the historical information for visitors.



After this visited, hopping getting a lot of knowledge about Thailand especially Chiang Mai province such as historical, Lanna, art and culture. Thank for chance for Thai and International Students for join this activity.

Experiences at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University and Wat Suan Dok in Chiang Mai: Learning the Thailand Monk life of Buddhist Religion

(Thailand, January, 12th 2018). International Student from School of Administrative Studies at Maejo University getting chance to learning about Buddhist Religion at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University or MCU (January, 3th 2018). The subject take by Social and Culture of Local Government, this course is lectured by Miss Matchima Vachirapho.





In there, our student joining the English Program of Humanity Class to learn about ourselves such as the name, living, motto, motivation, and exchange idea about everything with Monk student. There are many student from another countries in this class, such as Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, and all using clothes of Buddhist (Monk). They can be called as Monk. They’re young boy may become novices at any age. But in the role of Buddhist, the monk-novices cannot become a monk until 20 years old, if there are among them up 20 years old, they can to become a monk.




Following this class, many students from foreign countries such as Khamphanlee, he is a student at MCU, that the English Program for Humanity, He is from Laos and has a motto's "to this day is better than yesterday" He is good to talk about our country and family. He says that has 2 brothers, 1 brother and one young sister. He studied at MCU to become a tourist gauge for his country.





After that, our student to introduction in front of class in another class than the MCU Student stand up to introduction as well. Therefore, Indo Student discussed with Mr. Assoc. Prof. Yueng Pannengpeteh about Monk life of Buddhist Religion. According to Assoc. Prof. Yueng, every day the Monk’s perform activities of mediating and encircling, barefoot. Then can only eat before 12.00 p.m, therefore the Monk cannot dinner because it is the rule to become Monk.




Thai Monk in meditation at Temple will focus/ concentrate all thoughts and souls on religion, they perform various rituals in establishing. In the Monk there are rules such as not to kill people that must always live in peace and cannot commit sinful acts and in his life should not be too pretend/ fun. As well as monks cannot perform sexual activity, because better energy used for the main activities again. The Thai Monk should be fair and adhere to the human rights that have been made for the peace of all human beings.

This visited makes me understand about the role in Thai Monk life. Learning about it only getting in Thai by subject Social and Culture in Local Government through provided by Ajarn Matchima Vachirapho.

New Experiences in Thailand: Learning the Social and Culture in Farm House at Bann Suan Suk Jai, Lamphuun Province

On Dec 21-24th, 2017. The IGOV student who studying in Maejo University (MJU) gets a very good experiences and important for exchange student who want to know about social and culture in Thailand, this agenda held by School of Administrative Studies, MJU for 4 days 3 nights in one of the village of lamphuun province. this activity followed by 7 student (Al Fauzi Rahmat, Indriani Mahbubah, Lola Tri Anjani, Ghea Obisva, Novita Wulandari, Tri Siska Putri Anjeli and Yovita Mandasari). The aims of this agenda are to know the student about the social and culture in the farm house (this name of as live). In farm house the student have foster parent called “Mamy and Dady”.




In the schedule, the student has many agenda for 4 day 3 nights to carry out. The first day of the activity started at 14.30-16.30 the student taught about the plan watering, egg collection, farm wandering, then at 18.30 -19.00 student for welcome diner (organic local recipe) with Mamy and Dady and the 20.30 is private time each student. The second day, at 07.30-08.30 after breakfast the student learn to make Thai food and dessert cooking workshop and taught to make the red flower petals previously plucked, some of dishes will serve the student to lunch at 12.30-13.30, for the night at 18.30 - 20.00 we were invited city tour to surround the several area in lamphuun province and visit the night market.





The third day we were taught egg collection and watered the plants around in the farm house, then at 09.30 we were invited to visit wat prathai hariphunchai and the other traditional market before returning to farm house, at the afternoon, the student was break and continued tomorrow. In the morning we were taught egg collection and cook again, the results of it to obtained then arrived at 16.30.17.3 we have an agenda by making traditional Thai food taught by Ajarn Teng who come the student activities at the farm house. For the last day we were taught to cook typical Thai food and drinks from jasmine flower skin as red tea, at 09.30 the next schedule we were taught how to gardening and watering and picking various leaves to serve as a side dish for dinner, the next day we returned in dormitory to prepare everything in support of learning then.




Important:  in the farm house the student use the gesture of speech with Dady and Mamy, because cannot speak English, you can IMAGINE LOL. So excited and difficult in making a sentence by demonstrating with some nearby object.

The only experience in my life: success to student exchange program

Today I will continue to share information about my delay the student  exchange, because this program before I accepted in the waiting list to study in KKU, Thailand. But now that’s only my dreams to study that campus because I has been the plan to choses another campus again. Maybe you can read and check this link before you continue to read this write.
Okay I will continue, this my second experiences to submit my document in exchange program. I has been prepare the document such as the Curriculum vitae, Motivation Letter, GPA, TOEFL Score, the Medical Check Up, Recommendation Letter and other document. This document I submit in the IRO (International Relation Office) in my campus yeah.  So after that, I waiting the information of the IRO, maybe the time of 1 week. Yeah I accepted in name of the list in the next step selection that’s the interview. Oh this step is challenges in this selection. So, if you know my expression LOL. So many question that giving to me to the answers and I confuses after that interview and I not believe my speaking in interviewer is that great. After I waiting 4 days. Yeah I accepted in the list of the student go to abroad to student exchange program on the one semester.  I don’t believe that why I accepted in the list (maybe I success yeah) and now I prepare the Student Visa Thai and another document full to submit again and the scan if the document lost. Maybe in December 2017 I has been study in MJU. Why MJU? Why I not choses like before the KKU? Yeah I have the reason choses that (reason should be write in my Motivation Letter). .

PEMUDA DAN YOGYAKARTA: SINERGITAS INTERAKTIF MITIGASI BENCANA ALAM MELALUI PENGUATAN KAPASITAS PEMUDA DALAM MENINGKATKAN EKSITENSI KEARIFAN LOKAL DI BUMI YOGYAKARTA

Dearah Istimewa Yogyakarta merupakan salah satu provinsi yang memiliki tingkat kerentanan bencana alam yang tinggi, sebagai salah satu provinsi yang masuk dalam kawasan Ring of Fire ini sering terjadi berbagai bencana alam setiap tahun akibat dari faktor geologi. Sehingga jumlah bencana alam yang terjadi di Yogayakarta kurun waktu 10 tahun terakhir sangat banyak, seperti gempa bumi, tanah longsor, angin puting, banjir, letusan gunung merapi dan lain-lain. Hal tersebut perlu adanya peran pemerntah dan masyarakat (pemuda) dalam menanggulangi dan mengurangi dampak dari bencana alam melalui kearifan lokal dari masyarakat Yogyakarta secara turun-temurun.
Kearifan lokal di Yogyakarta tidak diragukan lagi akan keberagaman yang dimiliknya. Berbagai kearifan lokal dalam mitigasi bencana sangatlah beragam, seperti adanya acara tiap tahun yang diselenggarakan di bawah kaki gunung merepi yang dilaksanakan oleh masyarakat sekitarnya, pelaksanaan tersebut berupa penyajian seserahan yang diberikan kepada alam untuk mengharapkan kehidupan yang aman dan damai. Selain itu, adanya upacara labuhan penyerahan sesajen dari masyarakat untuk alam di pantai parangtritis. Berbagai kegiatan diatas hampir setiap tahun diadakan, sehingga peran dari semua pihak sangat dibutuhkan dalam kelestarian dari kearifan lokal tersebut terutama pemuda.
Dalam memperkuat potensi kearifan lokal yang dimiliki berbagai kawasan yang tersebar di Yogyakarta tersbut adalah melalui kapasitas pemuda yang mampu menciptakan aksi nyata dalam berbagai upaya untuk membangun dan meningkatkan kearifan lokal yang dimiliki oleh Yogyakarta. Kapasitas pemuda di Yogyakarta telah banyak menjamur di berbagai perguruan tinggi negeri maupun swasta ataupun sekolah lainnya, banyaknya pemuda baik yang berasal dari luar kota maupun yang berdomisi di Yogyakarta dengan tujuan mencari ilmu dan mendalami ilmu pengetahuan. Maka sudah seharusnya pemuda tersebut berkontribusi bagi bumi Yogyakarta.
Kontribusi para pemuda di Yogyakarta dapat kita lihat dari banyaknya organisasi kepemudaan dan lembaga yang menaungi peran pemuda dalam melakukan berbagai aksi nyata demi terciptanya bumi Yogyakarta yang aman dan damai. Sebagai contoh aksi nyata pemuda adalah peran aktifnya dalam menjaga dan melindungi berbagai keberagaman dari kearifan lokal yang dimiliki oleh Yogyakarta, sehingga hal tersebut dapat meningkatkan eksitensi bumi Yogyakarta dimata masyarakat luar, peran pemuda yaitu dapat mendorong dan membangkitkan kesadaran masyarakat lain terhadap potensi yang dimiliki serta upaya dalam meningkatkan keartifan lokal tersebut.
Bedasarkan pemamparan diatas, maka penulis mengambil judul: Pemuda Dan Yogyakarta: Sinergitas Interaktif Mitigasi Bencana Alam Melalui Kapasitas Pemuda Dalam Meningkatkan Kearifan Lokal Di Bumi Yogyakarta
Menurut (Mulyana, 2011). Pemuda adalah indivindu yang memilki karakter dinamis, artinya bisa memilki karakter yang bergejolak, optimis, dan belum mampu mengendalikan emosi yang stabil. Sehingga fase ini sangatlah rentan terhadap karakter yang dialami. Hal tersbeut karena karakter dari seorang pemuda dapat berubah sesuai dengan lingkungan sekitar. Sehingga peran pemuda menjadi bagian penting dalam meningkatkan kearifan lokal yang berada di Yogyakarta.
Bedasarkan Undang-Undang Nomor 32 Tahun 2009 tentang Perlindungan dan Pengelolaan Lingkungan Hidup menjelaskan bahwa kearifan lokal adalah nilai-nilai luhur yang berlaku dalam tata kehidupan masyarakat antara lain melindungi dan mengelolah lingkungan hidup secara lestari. Sehingga kearifan lokal menjadi bagian penting dalam melestarikan suatu nilai-nilai yang diterapkan dan diwujudkan secara bijaksana dan dapat dipercaya oleh masyarakat setempat. Oleh karena itu, melalui peran penguatan kapasitas pemuda diharapkan mampu meningkatkan dan mengendalikan suatu pelaksanaan kearifan lokal yang berada di bumi Yogyakarya.
Keterlibatan seorang pemuda dalam mitigasi bencana alam dapat dilihat dari eksitensi kearifan lokal yang dimiliki oleh suatu wilayah. Di Bumi Yogyakarta contohnya telah begitu banyak peran pemuda yang telah berhasil dalam menjaga dan meningkatkan kearifan lokal tersebut, salah satu contohnya adalah banyaknya akun media sosial yang telah banyak mengekspor berbagai kearifan lokal yang dimiliki oleh bumi Yogyakarta. Sehingga para wisatawan luar dapat mengetahui dan mengunjungi Yogyakarta untuk menikmati kearifan lokal bumi Yogyakarta. Selain itu, banyaknya penyebaran akun media sosial yang melakukan penyebaran informasi dari para pemuda dalam perannya sebagai upaya meningkatkan kearifan lokal dalam mitigasi suatu bencana alam di Yogyakarta.

Nilai-nilai luhur yang terkandung dalam kearifan lokal inilah yang kemudian dijadikan berbagai kegiatan-kegiatan yang mampu menghadirkan seluruh kalangan masyarakat khususnya pemuda untuk dapat menjaga dan melestarikan budaya yang dimiliki. Sehingga antara pemuda dan kearifan lokal di Yogyakarta tidak bisa terpisah karena antara keduanya saling menjaga dan melestarikan kearifan lokal melalui kekuatan yang berada ditubuh seorang pemuda.

Sinergi pemuda dan Yogyakarta dalam mitigasi bencana alam sangat penting untuk memperkuat karakter melalui kapasitas pemuda dengan meningkatkan eksitensi kearifan lokal di bumi Yogyakarta. Melalui upaya yang dilakukan di beberapa organisasi/ komunitas bertujuan untuk menanamkan cinta terhadap bumi Yogyakarta dan terciptanya berbagai aksi nyata demi bumi Yogyakarta yang aman dan damai. Peran aktifnya dalam menjaga dan melindungi berbagai keberagaman dari kearifan lokal yang dimiliki oleh Yogyakarta, sehingga hal tersebut dapat meningkatkan eksitensi bumi Yogyakarta dimata masyarakat luar.
